This article deals with a proposal for how to store solar energy, that originates from converted sunlight into electrochemical energy in a redox flow battery (RFB).
This article regards the notion that it is possible to increase the performance of a vanadium redox flow cell (VRFC) without it affecting a monetary aspect.
The article presents a phenomenological model of a vanadium redox flow battery which is used to assess the concentration overpotential during charge-discharge cycling at different operating conditions.
The article also presents a method to determine the mass transfer coefficient and a strategy to reduce the concentration overpotential.
